한인회 이사회 신임이사 선출

에드먼턴 한인회 제25대 이사회(이사장 정중호)는 지난 2월 23일 한인회관(9636-105A Ave)에서 열린 한인회 정기총회에서 사직서 제출로 결석된 이사 두분과 장기 결석 이사 한분 자리를 새로이 보선, 회원들로부터 압도적인 찬성으로 인준받았다. 이명종 전 알버타저널 발행인과 이익순 이사가 사직서를  제출하고 이주원 이사가 장기 결석 사유 제척됨으로써 최하 15명의 이사로 구성되어야 하는 또한 총회 선출 이사는 최대 16명까지로 한다는 회칙의 교차 제한 규정에 따라 보선, 인준된 것이었다. (Article 19 Organization of the Board of Directors.  The Board of Directors shall be composed of 15 to 21 Directors.       19.1 Elected Directors: Up to 16 Directors elected at a general meeting.  23.2 Non Attendance: A Director shall be automatically dismissed if one of the following causes applies, and the Chairperson of the Board of Directors shall notify the Director involved in writing of such dismissal. His or her full membership is revoked by The Association. a) Absent from Board meetings 3 times or more without prior approval of the Board. In principle prior approval shall be in writing or by means of an e-mail. b) A Director is absent from Board meetings 3 or more times with prior approval shall maintain his or her position of directorship.)

안정순 이사, 이강택 이사, 그리고 임다영 이사가 이번 정기총회에서 선출된 보선이사들인데 세분 공히 현재 에드먼턴 한인회가 절실히 필요로 하는 젊은이들로 회원들의 많은 관심과 지지를 받았다. 이로써 에드먼턴 한인회 제25대 이사회는 총회에서 선출된 정중호 이사장을 필두로 권영애,김화규, 노웅규,민한길,박장희,박정하,심정희,양남규,우명순,유승길 총 11명의 이사들과 회칙에서 정한 총 5명의 자동이사, 조용행 한인회장, 염진성 직전한인회장,전옥자 노인회장,김미영 여성회장,김성렬 실협회장등 총 16명의 이사에 이번 총회 보선된 세명의 이사가 더해져 총 19명의 이사로 운용되게 되었다. ( 19.2 Officers Members of Board: The President and immediate Past President shell be members of the Board of Directors. 19.3 Indirectly Elected Directors: Directors not elected directly as Directors by the members at a General Annual Meeting shall include, President of the Korean Senior Citizen Society of Edmonton, President of the Korean Businessmen’s Association and President of The Edmonton Korean Canadian Women’s Association.)

보선된 후 가진 짦은 소견 발표중에 머리 하얀 역전의 한인회원들이 이쁘다, 어휴 젊은것봐 하는 추임새에 그만 환한 웃음을 터트린 임다영 신임이사의 모습에서 향후 10년의 에드먼턴 한인회의 미래를 본 것은 비단 하나둘만의 생각은 아니었을 것이었다. 긴 어둠의 터널을 빠져 나온 듯한 그래서 더욱 싱그러운 젊은 그대의 웃음과 머리결이었다. 에드먼턴 한인회 이사회의 새로운 도약이 시작된 첫 페이지는 이렇게 회원들 가슴마다에 새겨졌다.

그 어디에 내놓아도 결코 손색없는 에드먼턴 한인회칙(By-Laws of the Edmonton Korean Canadian Association) 에 명기된 이사회 관련 의무들을 신임이사들이 보선된 지금, 다시금 되새겨보는 기회를 가진다.

Article 18  Responsibilities and Qualifications of Directors
18.1 Responsibilities of The Board: The Board is a standing decision making body of The Association, and responsible to guide The Executive Branch to right direction in carrying out various projects and events approved by The General Meeting. These projects and events are designed to promote members’ welfare through cultural, social and friendly interactions among members. The Board shall also extend it full support to The Executive Branch in achieving these goals shall promote and guard the security and vitality of The Association.
18.2 Qualifications of Directors: A Director shall be member who has paid the membership fee, is in all respects in good standing and actively participates and assists in the activities of The Association.

21.2 The Board of Directors’ meeting shall be consisted of the regular monthly Meetings (once a month) and the special meetings. 21.3 Quorum: One half of the Directors attending the meeting shall constitute a quorum, and unless otherwise stipulated in this By-Laws a majority vote shall pass a resolution. 21.4 Resolution: The following shall require a resolution by the Board of Directors:
a) Settlement of accounts of previous fiscal year and budgets of new fiscal
b) Business plan
c) Amendment to the By-Laws and formulation of implementation regulations.
d) Approval of expenditures exceeding budgeted amount and incurring debt.
e) Approval of matters proposed by the Reward and Disciplinary Committee.
f) Receiving petitions.
g) Final settlement of affairs related to the dissolution of The Association.
h) Review quarterly works and accounting reports from the Executive Branch.
i) Matters not listed above but proposed by the President.
